From the intricacies of the market for new media to traditional craftsmanship and emerging “craftivism,” FoAM’s next research gathering will be dedicated to the contemporary arts and crafts. We will begin with a lecture by Jack Anderson, who researches the opportunities for new media in the booming European and North American contemporary art markets. In the afternoon, lead by Olu Vandenbussche and Sanjeev Shankar, we will move into the depths of Asia – India and Kyrgistan – and learn about ancient crafts and their role in current textile and product design, fine arts and emerging economies. We will end the day with with a hearty meal, boiling a trans-local dumpling feast.
