COCKY EEK (Netherlands) is interested in lightweight spatial compositions, floating or flying experiments, and large, voluminous forms that explore our human perception, where we donβt move through space, but space moves through us. She has a great love for fleeting natural phenomena with a great aesthetic impact and her favourite media are the ever so volatile elements of wind and air. Her work considers spaces, situations or conditions in relation to the sensorial human body. Cocky is a member of FoAM since 2001. She co-founded FoAM Amsterdam, collaborated on large scale responsive environments including TGarden, txOom and TRG, and received Prix Ars Electronica Honorary Mention 2011 for the urban foraging project 'Boskoi'. In 2012 she created Sphaerae, an inflatable multi-dome pavilion for immersive and syneasthetic experiences, shown on a growing number of media-art festivals. Since 2013 Cocky Eek collaborates with Schweigman& and co-created the performances Blaas, Erf, Curve and Landing Sites. Besides her artistic practice she is a core teacher at the ArtScience Interfaculty of the Royal Conservatoire and the Royal Arts Academy in The Hague since 2011. Her work has been presented at Sonic Acts, Le Lieue Unique, Ars Electronica, ISEA Albuquerque, Todaysart, AxS festival, Oerol, Modern Body Festival. Cocky studied Fashion Design BA/MA in the Netherlands, France and Italy and set off with a wearable collection 'Fashion is Ugly, You have to Change it Every Half Year'.
